The BackBlast:

Leaving the house this morning, I was greated with a blast of dry, warm air that I wasn’t really expecting. I thought, Wow, this is going to be a great run this morning!! Looking at the radar earlier, after a very wet night, it appeared the next band of rain would hold off until after the run.

Arriving at the Arrowhead and stepping out of my car, I was greeted with a torrential downpoar with COLD winds, and rain that hurt even through my clothing. All of the other PAX quickly retreated to their cars, and some apparently even contemplated going home. But the hard (or dumb) ass that I am, embraced the suck and the pelting sideways rain, until it was 0530 and the others reluctantly emerged from the protection of their vehicles.

Having promised to go find some hills, we were off towards hill number one. Off along the trail towards Gruber and Kulp roads, across the street and down past the duck pond, at the base of the hill, near the bridge, the PAX regrouped and, having warmed up a little bit, did some stretching OYO. Next the group travelled back up the hill, doing wind sprints, and back down at a comfortable mosey pace. 5 times. Which doesn’t seem like alot, but it was sufficient to move on. By this time the rain had stopped, thankfully.

Continued along the trail over the bridge, taking a left to head towards Yoder rd, right on Yoder, right on East Woods drive, and right on Ruth Rd, for our second hill as Ruth rises to intersect with Yoder. This is a tougher hill. I think we did it about four times before we had to turn around and head back to end on time. PAX returned, nearly dried out at this point.

CoT: Lowes shared a quote from the book, The Shack:

Growth means change and change involves risk, stepping from the known to the unknown.

Hopefully we all grew a little bit from this mornings rather uncomfortable experience.
