The BackBlast:

YHC readily admits to stealing (borrowing?) much of this beatdown from other Backblasts across F3 Nation.  People DO read the backblasts (sometimes!)

Conditions : 36 and cloudy, very little wind.  Mostly dry ground (some rain the night before)
Disclaimer
was given in the parking lot!

  9. 3 burpees (penalty or not? you decide) as one late PAX pulled in!

Mosey – almost one loop, until we were about 100 feet from the pull-up bars.

Thang 1 : Pull-ups
We started off by channeling our inner leprechaun and leprechaun walked (duck walked) to the first playground because leprechauns are mischievous creatures that like to play.

3 men started on pull-ups – 10 ea
3 men did 20 merkins
Flip-flopped once both sets were finished

Completed our Mosey loop back to the pavilion

Thang 2 : 03-17-21 workout

Round 1 :
3 Knerkin – Aka “Chuck Norris” Knuckle Merkins
17 Bobby Hurley
21 SSHs
Mosey around the loop

Round 2 :
3 Diamond Merkins
17 Low slow squats
21 Seal Claps
Mosey around the loop

Round 3 :
3 Fingertip Merkins
17 Imperial Walkers
21 Seal Jacks
Mosey around the loop, ending in the parking lot.

Fonda pointed out to YHC that “it really wasn’t 3 reps, since we did them in cadence!”  Still better than having to do 12 IC!

You can’t have Saint Patty’s day without a pot of gold, right? And by a pot of gold, I meant a 5 gallon bucket with a “pot of gold” picture taped onto the front, with a literal “golden pot” inside.  Inside that pot were multiple “golden coins” (paper cutouts of paper coins) with an ab exercise on them!

Starting at the front of the parking lot, we ran down to the end, and a PAX picked a piece of paper, moseying back to the start.  That PAX led the exercise.  All were 20 IC.  Each turn, whoever was picking the gold got to decide how fast we moved down to the “pot of gold!”

No peeking or you may not be able to contain your excitement to do the exercises at the other end.

We continued this pattern until each of us had drawn once, meaning 6 trips back and forth.  (Total mosey was around 1.65 miles).

Instead of a normal 6MOM, it was more like “15 minutes of Mary,” with the moseying :

Box Cutters x 20 IC
Rosalita x 20 IC
American Hammer x 20 IC
LBCs x 20 IC
Leg Raises x 20 IC
WW1 Sit-ups x 20 IC

During Thang 2 above, YHC went through some (hopefully) obscure trivia regarding Saint Patrick’s day :

Interesting Facts for St Patrick’s Day And Ireland

  1. St Patrick was born in Britain (not Ireland) at the end of the 4th century.
  2. St Patrick was kidnapped by Irish pirates when young but escaped home to England, returned to Ireland as a Christian Missionary.
  3. The First Saint Patrick’s Day was held in America in 1895 New York City
  4. Corned Beef and Cabbage was an American idea, started by Irish Americans.
  5. Corned beef and cabbage, doesn’t have anything to do with the grain corn. Instead, it’s in reference to the large grains of salt that were historically used to cure meats, which were also known as “corns.
  6. The 5th-century saint’s official color was “Saint Patrick’s blue,” a light shade of sky blue. The color green only became associated with the big day after it was linked to the Irish independence movement in 1798.
  7. Used to be a DRY holiday – no alcohol. Up until the 1970s, most pubs were closed on that day. Before that time, the saint’s feast day was considered a more solemn, strictly religious occasion.
