The BackBlast:

Since our originally scheduled Q (Duke) had a early-Friday morning conflict with his son’s state baseball tournament (?!?!?), we decided to theme this run around the great baseball fields of Harleysville.

Overall, we passed 16 fields, but there are plenty more within the town’s boundaries.

Good luck to all of the Harleysville Hornets travel baseball teams competing in their state tournaments this weekend!

  • Starting at the flags, ran through the park where Souderton HS baseball plays (the big field), over to the beautiful Harleysville Baseball Complex, home of seven different fields.
  • Making a left onto Gruber Rd., we entered the Indian Valley Middle School Parking lot and circled around to the two baseball fields in the back-end of the school’s property, before making a left onto Maple Ave.
  • We headed downhill (and reasonably fast) on Maple Ave, across Main Street and then picked up the trail, around the small pond behind Harleysville Hotel and Villa Vito.
  • Picking up Alumni Ave, we entered the neighborhood on Wilshyre Way, and made a right on Broad St.
  • Picked up the path again near Broad and Oak, and entered Alderfer Park.
  • Running through Alderfer Park, we toured the four great baseball/softball fields there, home of Harleysville Girls Softball.
  • Circling around the path in Alderfer Park, we made a right into Oak Ridge Elementary School, where we found another baseball field (that had seen better days).
  • Exiting Oak Ridge, we made a left onto Moyer Rd. and took it all the way back out to Main Street, making a left.
  • We followed Main Street for a short distance to Sammy Bullfrog’s and picked up the path.
  • Before the path ended, we made a left to stay on the path, and followed along the West Branch Skippack Creek.
  • Made a left near the pond, heading back toward the Community Center Fields. Followed Gruber Rd. a little further than usual, making a left right near the Baseball Complex Batting Cages
  • Headed back to the flags.

Side note: Other Harleysville Baseball fields are located at Reed Park and Heckler Plains.
